The Youth 4 Policy (Y4P) Innovation Fellowship is your opportunity for Africans to be at the forefront of transforming Uganda’s startup ecosystem. Join us in conducting groundbreaking research and creating top-notch policy papers that will propel Uganda’s budding startup sector to new heights. This is your chance to make a real impact!

Fellows participating in the program can select from a range of diverse policy topics to explore. These include but are not limited to defining the characteristics of startups in Uganda, analyzing the impacts of taxation policies, examining the transformation of universities into innovation hubs, and evaluating strategies for attracting venture capital.

Eligibility Criteria

Residents of Uganda and have a strong passion for policy and innovation.
A background in fields such as entrepreneurship, law, journalism, policy, technology, economics, engineering, or business.

Nationality is not a requirement for this opportunity, so if you have a demonstrated interest in advancing these areas, we encourage you to apply.

Program Structure

Duration: 5 Months
Modules and Workshops: Structured training and interactive sessions
Mentorship: Bi-weekly check-ins with experienced mentors
Deliverables: Research and submission of a high-quality policy paper.

To successfully graduate from the program, fellow startup ecosystem builders and founders are required to attend a minimum of 80% of the scheduled module days, engage in a minimum of 8 out of 12 mentorship sessions, and submit a final policy paper that has been approved by KAS.
