Kogi Central Economic Boost: 2,500 SMEs to be Registered Under New Partnership

In a bid to boost economic growth and development in Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has partnered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to register 2,500 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the district.

This partnership was formalized on Tuesday during a meeting between CAC officials, led by the Head of the CAC FCT Zonal Office, Mr. Bello Muftau Esq., and the lawmaker at her office in the National Assembly, Abuja.

The registration, which will be conducted on the spot, will cost N11,000 per SME. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has committed to covering the total cost of N27,500,000 for registering all 2,500 SMEs.

The initiative aims to support small business owners in complying with the government’s registration requirements and to promote business growth and development in the region.

The registration drive is expected to commence soon, accompanied by a special conference designed to bring together key players in the business ecosystem, fostering synergy and collaboration.

The lawmaker also pledged to organize a special conference that will include regulatory bodies, the Bank of Industry, and other key stakeholders to enhance business growth and development through cooperation and collaboration.

She urged the CAC to enhance its education and sensitization efforts to inform business owners about the importance of registration and the benefits of compliance.

In response, the CAC team, led by Mr. Bello Muftau Esq., praised the partnership as a significant step towards promoting the ease of doing business in Nigeria, in line with the Commission’s mandate under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.

He added that the commission has implemented measures to promote the ease of doing business, including simplifying the registration process, reducing registration costs, improving digital infrastructure, and providing incentives for business registration.
